Many companies have ‘done’ Lean but how lean are they? Tom talks about his experience of how ‘Real’ Lean has been progressively replaced with a light version based almost totally on waste elimination.
It is often packaged into generic programmes with no particular focus on making value flow:
- Focus is on the deployment of tools and not on improvement of performance.
- Owned by internal consultants not BU managers.
- Not linked to any system of goal deployment.
